Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Boston University students, faculty, and staff are now able to charge their electric vehicles (EV) on campus using newly installed electric vehicle charging stations! The stations are located within the following locations:

Parking Facility Location of Charging Stations
Agganis Arena Garage (Lot A) P1 level of garage on left near east elevators
Langsam Garage (Lot B) Rows D & E of garage on west side
Warren Towers Garage (Lot K) Ground level of garage on west side
Rafik B. Hariri Building Garage (Lot M) P1 level of garage on left near west elevators

How To Use These Charging Stations

  1. Register as a Charles River Campus EV Charging Station user with Parking & Transportation Services.
  2. Register for a ChargePoint account and receive a ChargePoint RFID card in the mail.  Make sure the card has been set-up for use at “for pay” charging stations.  In order to do this, you will need to log in to your personal ChargePoint driver account and provide your credit card details after receiving your ChargePoint card.
  3. Join BU’s “Community-only Chargepoint group” by following instructions you will receive via email after registering with BU (step 1). This will allow you to use the Chargepoint app to view EV station availability in permit-only garages (Warren and Hariri) — stations not visible to other app users.
  4. After pulling into a Charles River Campus space designated for electric vehicle charging,
    • tap your ChargePoint card on the station’s reader symbol to authorize your card and unlock the plug from the holster
    • remove the charging connector and plug it into your EV
  5. You will be charged $0.25 per hour, prorated by the minute. There is a 4 hour charging limit. Those who violate this policy and exceed the time limit will be charged $6.00 per hour after four hours.
  6. When returning to your vehicle,
    • tap your ChargePoint card on the station’s reader symbol to confirm you want to end your charging session
    • remove the charging connector from your EV and return it to its holster
  7. The station will display the duration and cost of your charging session.

Please note that permit lot restrictions remain in effect for the use of Charging Stations within any permit-only lots and garages.

Boston University community members and guests without University parking permits may pay the posted rate at the Langsam Garage (Lot B) and the Agganis Arena Garage (Lot A) in order to gain access to charging stations located within these facilities, provided they have a registered ChargePoint account.
