Don’t be afraid to get to know your professors, your residence hall security guards, random strangers you eat next to in the dining hall, etc. Everyone has a story, and once you listen to them, you’ll learn amazing things about BU, Boston, and the rest of the world.

  • One thing you wish you knew before coming to BU: Sign up for a lot of different classes and extracurriculars – even the ones you think you’ll hate. You might fall in love with something you thought you’d never do in a million years, or you might discover that you don’t want to do what you thought you did. And that’s totally OK!

I am a huge part of the New Jersey music scene, so I wish I had some guidance on the ins and outs of Boston’s scene. BU students are very prevalent in the scene and I’ve met a lot of awesome people to guide me through the music world of Boston!

Boston is beautiful, no matter what the weather is, but don’t forget to bring an umbrella and a good rain jacket to help you stay dry on those rainy days! Also, don’t ever be afraid to reach out and ask for help! Everyone around you wants to see you succeed!

There are limitless activities and organizations to get involved with on campus so you can always find more things to do. Going into the city is much easier than I thought as well so don’t be afraid to explore!

Even if one of the majors is not something you’re interested in, it is still helpful to learn about it and test it out to know whether it is for you or not.

  • One thing you wish you knew before coming to BU: The MBTA (aka the train that runs through BU) is the best way to get around Boston and campus! It is also MUCH cheaper than using Ubers. One easy place to get a T-pass is in Star Market in West campus. This way you can really explore Boston, and it’s affordable too!

Everyone you meet will have something new and exciting to offer, so be open to absorbing it all. A campus that you’ve dreamt about and fought to be a part of, is only a few memories away from becoming a second home.

  • One thing you wish you knew before coming to BU: There are so many beautiful hidden places to study apart from Mugar! My personal favorites are the ninth floor of Kilachand, the Questrom Starbucks, the Law building, and the StuVi study lounge. Take the time to explore and find which ones suit you best (or which ones have the best view of the skyline).
