- Title Journalism MS’20
Hometown: Port Jefferson, New York - Education Stony Brook University; history and anthropology double major
Prior to BU
After graduating in 2016, I tried a variety of things in an effort to figure out what I was going to do with my life. This included interning at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History (I was considering museum studies/museum conservation) and enrolling in a few courses at my alma mater in hopes that inspiration would strike. These experiences (and others that I’ve omitted for the sake of brevity) made me realize I’m not happy if I don’t get to write, so I decided I would become a journalist and write about important issues.
Why Journalism
Writing is my passion and I feel that journalism is writing with a purpose. I want to make the world a better place – however a lofty goal that may sound – and believe I can do that through writing.
Most Looking Forward To
I’ve always loved school, so I’m looking forward to starting classes. I’m also excited to join some clubs, make friends, and explore the city (i.e. find the best places to eat.)
After Graduation
In a few years, I’d like to be writing long-form pieces about mental health, the environment, and/or the many other subjects that interest me. Long-term, I would like to write a book.
A Bit About Me
I love Korean food, The Office, and dogs. I make amazing chocolate chip cookies (so good that they’ve ruined all other cookies for me) and I studied some German during undergrad. I’m quite rusty, but I think it’s a really cool language. Bis bald!
