Military-related Leaves
BU Paid Family and Medical Leave also provides benefits if you need to manage family affairs when a family member has been called to active duty in the armed forces, including the National Guard or reserves.
Military exigency leave provides up to 12 weeks of leave if you need time away immediately after a family member is deployed or notified of being deployed in a foreign country.
If your family member received or aggravated a serious health condition while deployed in a foreign country, and if that family member is either undergoing treatment for or disabled by that condition, you can take up to 26 weeks of family leave per year.
Paid Family and Medical Leave provides 100% of base pay for both types of military leave.
Note: Maximum paid time off is 26 weeks within any 12-month period for any combination of personal medical and family leaves. Appropriate documentation is required.
